5 ways to control a child's Internet use.
Schools, college classes and exams are running online throughout the Corona epidemic. Parents had to hand over their smartphones to their children even if they did not want to. As a result, the more you study, the more you lose. Children have become addicted to aniline.
Long-term use of the Internet is such a loss of study. He is also involved in criminal activities. The risk of online child cyber bullying, online sexual harassment, incitement to militancy, and cheating is increasing.
According to a UNICEF Bangladesh survey, about 25 percent of children (ages 10-16) enter the digital world before the age of 11. In addition, a large proportion of children (63 percent) use their own room primarily as a place to access the Internet. This indicates the prevalence of 'bedroom culture', which creates opportunities for Internet access with relatively little surveillance.
UNICEF Bangladesh conducted a survey entitled 'Online Safety of Children in Bangladesh'. The survey was conducted on 1,261 children (10 to 18 years old) using internet in schools, colleges and madrasas of the country.
The survey also found religious incitement to various types of cybercrime. About 10 percent of children surveyed complained of being exposed to religiously provocative content. Adolescents (16 to 18 years old) are more likely to be exposed to such provocative content than other children.
According to the survey, children under the age of 11 are also accessing and using the internet every day. However, older children are more at risk of experiencing online bullying than younger children. However, the agency believes that children are never free from the risk of exposure to harmful materials, sexual abuse and intimidation.
That is why children need to control their internet use soon. Parents need to be aware first. Technology experts say parents need to keep two things in mind to keep their children safe from using the Internet. One of them is whether the children are in any danger while using the internet. And the second is whether they are involved in any addiction.
Here are 5 ways to secure and control your child's Internet use:
> You can use Parental Control e-mail account. Use the Parental Control e-mail account on the device you are giving the children. It will always allow you to monitor what the child is watching.
> Put some security apps on your phone. Keep these apps installed on the device your child is using. This will alert you if your child enters an adult site.
> Use the child version option on the phone. There are child versions of the Internet in the case of Facebook and Messenger. In that case children can create an account that they use but parents have the opportunity to supervise.
> Be aware while getting internet connection: There are various internet service providers in Bangladesh who provide internet connection. However, it is better to check if the company from which the internet connection is being taken has the feature of safe internet for their children.
> Set a specific time for how long the children will be online or on the Internet. To control children's Internet use, set a specific time when the Internet connection will be at home and when it will not.
